Volunteers came out today for an initial garbage clean-up of the Katzie slough, in the area adjacent to the Meadowtown Shopping Centre under the bridge on-ramp. Scott organized the event and barbequed up smokies for everyone. Check out the load of rusty shopping carts, traffic cones, old tarps and various garbage that they pulled out of the slough.
Inmates from the local correctional centre helped out with the clean-up, providing lots of muscle and manpower (and appetites for the smokies).
Thanks to the Purewal family who paid for the food, and to Brock at Tim Hortons who provided coffee and doughnuts.
